HEBDO HERO: "CHARLIE HEBDO" PUBLISHES THE SECOND COMIC OF "THE LIFE OF MUHAMMAD"
by Pamella Geller https://www.legal-project.org/4128/hebdo-hero-charlie-hebdo-publishes-the-second Yes, just drawing a cartoon these days makes you hero. We live in so weak and spineless an age that violating the blasphemy laws under Islam is an act of supreme courage. That's how bad things really are. Stéphane Charbonnier is such a man. Stéphane Charbonnier, aka Charb, published the second version of "The Life of Muhammad."
Muhammad life in comics, why? 21 Jun 2013 Muhammad's life, the first part: The beginnings of a prophet, and by Charb ZinebÀ the occasion of the release, Wednesday, June the second volume of the Life of Muhammad 26, we get asked again and again the same questions. And especially, why publish it? (Even if the ways of formulating the question are rarely as polished). Here is what Charb said in January. Why publish a special edition to tell the life of Muhammad drawings? Among our colleagues, the articles are already written and believers sharpen their indignation new challenge! We made money on the back of the Prophet (make on the back of DSK or Depardieu does not shock anyone). Charlie Hebdo put oil on the fire! What fire? Do not look, it always finds a suitably smoldering since we're talking about Islam ... THERE IS NOT THAT THE BLASPHEMY IN LIFE Muhammad's life, 2nd part: The Prophet of Islam, by Charb and Zineb So I read the fascinating biography of Muhammad written by Maxime Rodinson. I wanted to tell the life of this type is capable of triggering hysteria since they say his name. I learned a lot and I laughed myself too. There are spectacular episodes, moving, but also grotesque in the life of Muhammad as the Muslim chroniclers have reported. They lend themselves to this type, which, unlike Jesus, is claimed as a mere mortal, miracles as ridiculous as those in the New Testament attributed to the son of God ... The project to tell the life of Muhammad really started when I met Zineb, journalist and sociologist of religion. This was after the local fire Charlie. We should leave this story earlier, but there was in September this new scandal of the Mohammed cartoons in Charlie. It was not that confused drawings that illustrated so hot satirical news with a comic telling no humor added the life of a prophet. In his foreword to [the first part, note], Zineb cautions The Life of Muhammad: "Every sentence put into the mouth of Muhammad is annotated, and returns references to the most rigorous scholars of Islam does not challenge the authenticity. "He will deny them that Muhammad is drawn ... If they agree, I feel flattered to have been like a type for which there is no portrait done in his lifetime. receive the latest by email: subscribe to the legal project's free mailing list Note: The content of external articles does not necessarily reflect the views of The Legal Project. |
Geert Wilders Lauds Legal Project "Last June, I was acquitted of all charges by an Amsterdam court. The Middle East Forum's Legal Project ... was always there to help, advise and assist ... The importance of the MEF's Legal Project in reclaiming free expression and political discourse ... cannot be overestimated." — Geert Wilders, September 29, 2011 |
